The generator will not start

It sat until the power went out. Now it will not start, or it starts and will not carry a load.

Worth noting before you call

• Is the fuel shutoff open, and is the gas fresh? Gas left in a stored generator is a common thing to notice. It is not a diagnosis.
• Does it crank, pull over, or do nothing?
• If it runs, does it make power with nothing plugged in, then die when a load is added?
• Any burnt smell at the outlet or the panel? Stop using it if there is.
