Snowblower won't start before the first snow
It sat since spring. You prime it, pull it, and it will not fire — or it fires once and quits.
Worth noting before you call
- Is the fuel shutoff open, and is the gas from this season? Gas that sat all summer is a common reason, not the only one, and it depends on the machine.
- Is the key in, the switch on, and the choke where a cold start needs it? Do not bypass a safety control.
- If you smell raw fuel or the plug looks wet, it may be flooded. Stop pulling. A flooded engine does not get better from more pulls.
- Does the starter crank, click, or do nothing? That one detail changes the job.
- Did it run last winter and then sit, or did it quit in the middle of a storm?
Those checks are not a diagnosis. If it still will not start, bring it to 505 East St or ask about pickup. We look at fuel, spark, and the carb, then tell you the work before anything is repaired. Open 11 AM–11 PM.
Shop is 505 East St, Merrill, WI 54452. Within 60 miles of Merrill. Open 11 AM–11 PM every day. Don’t know the cause? That’s fine.
